ANTIO is directed by a Board of Directors, which is elected with a majority of votes for a two-year period during General Assemblies. The Board of Directors for the 2021-2023 period is composed of the following members:

Ron Araya Fajardo

Ron holds a B.Sc. in Electromechanical Engineering from the Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC) and has postgraduate studies in International Relations from St. John Fisher College. He has over 15 years experience in industrial automation and technology, and has accumulated over 33 years experience in translation and simultaneous interpretation English/Spanish.

He constantly collaborates with recognized national and International companies and organizations, both public-private. He previously held the position of Board Overseer.

Sara Elisa Fernández Chen

She is an Official Spanish – English Translator and Interpreter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica since 1996. She has taught in several universities of our country. She has an Executive Bilingual Secretary degree, and she lived in Brazil for several years where she worked as a Portuguese-English-Spanish interpreter. She also graduated from the Universidad Nacional (National University) where she got a Bachelor’s degree in English Teaching and later, she got a Master’s degree in Translation.

Arcelio Hernández Mussio

Lawyer and notary public graduated from the International University of the Americas (UIA, Costa Rica) and a professional master’s degree in diplomacy from the Graduate Studies System of the University of Costa Rica. He has more than 23 years of experience in the field of official translation and interpretation of the English language, in addition to more than two decades of serving as an expert translator for the Judiciary. He has been an English professor and director at the International University of the Americas (UIA, Costa Rica) and is member of the Inter-American Bar Association. He is currently studying a master’s degree in Bioethics at the International University of Valencia.
He has experience on the board of directors of various associations. He has also collaborated on legal matters for ANTIO on a pro bono basis.

Eric Díaz Aguilar

He is an English professor, translator and interpreter. He has a Bachelor’s degree in English Teaching from the Universidad de Costa Rica (University of Costa Rica) and a Master’s degree and doctoral studies in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the State University of New York. He has been an Official English-Spanish Translator and Interpreter since November 1991, and he has worked in several private universities and other institutions. He was the treasurer of ANTIO’s Board of Directors from 2015 to 2019.

Margot León Soto

Margot is an official Spanish-German translator appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica, since 2011. She has worked for various international entities, such as DAAD (German International Exchange Service) and the Swiss Embassy, in Costa Rica. She holds a Licentiate degree (Bachelor plus) in Psychology (University of Costa Rica) and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology (UNIBE). She has a SFL (Spanish as a foreign language) teaching certification (ITCR).

In addition to translation, she has vast experience in other fields such as educational psychology and foreign language teaching of Spanish and German.
