The National Association of Official Translators and Interpreters (ANTIO in Spanish) is a private, non-profit, professional association, whose main goal is to safeguard the academic, professional, legal, economic, and social interests, among others, of the Official Translators and Interpreters of Costa Rica, as well as to facilitate the relationships with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica and with non-official translators and interpreters.
Primary Task
ANTIO’s objectives are the following:
- To build an image of excellency, quality, and prestige within the country regarding the tasks of Official Translators and Interpreters
- To ensure that the appointments of Official Translators and Interpreters are executed in accordance with the legal provisions established to this end by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship
- To guard the enforcement of what has been stipulated by the laws and regulations relating to Official Translators and Interpreters
- To cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship on mutual understanding and permanent contact concerning all policies about official translations and interpretations
- To establish contacts with similar organizations and institutions regarding topics related to translation and interpretation
- To promote and strengthen the union, respect, understanding, and sociability ties among ANTIO’s members, so that we can protect, dignify and improve the practice of our professional activities and issue norms that will benefit all of us
- To encourage the members to fulfill all their duties with dignity and professional ethics
- To organize comprehensive development and professional updating seminars and workshops, as well as other educational, social, cultural, recreational and cooperation activities aimed at Official Translators and Interpreters
- To keep the members updated about any changes related to the practice of our profession
